You probably will have little in the start up menu. I have built 5 and they have all slowed down over time as more programs are added. What sort is it? What is its spec?
Pretty fast, must have a SSD (Solid State Drive), to get those times, they put the old hard drive to shame for their performance. Have always built my own & all the family pc's over the last 15 years or so, looking to build a new one in a few months, once AMD's new range of graphic cards come out.
we've come a long way since my first commador 64, I kicked that all over the house till the salesman explained what 'boot' the computer really meant,
Nope, no SSD. Chust an orn'ary 1TB HD. And an i5 processor and 16gb of ram. And a decent GPU too. Running Win8. Couldn't believe how fast it was, so thought I'd come on here to boast. Cost me an arm and t'leg, tho'. £175.
£175 ? shirley not, which car boot did you get that off, I don't know how many rams mine has nor can i tell you how many gb's it has, I do know its on Win7 and i'm very happy with it but it cost me £600 2 years ago, for puter, monitor, keypad, mouse and speakers, the speakers are better than the speakers on my gramaphone, so i'm well happy with the sound qual,
Happen it's 64-bit then. Just wait til you come across progs that won't install on 64-bit! Got yer Windows 10 free upgrade reserved yet ? Mr. HandyAndy - Really
My Chromebook's boot in less than 7 seconds and haven't got any slower since I bought them for £100 each a year ago.
When Windows 7 came out about 6 years, I went straight for the 64 bit version, so many advantages, very few progs around now that won't work on 64 bit OS, some of the older progs can have issues though. I'm looking forward to Windows 10, so many improvements made, finally Xbox support.
I never bothered with Windows 8, biggest mistake they made with it, was to remove the start button, thankfully it's back for Windows 10.
These are HP, my accounts are still on the windows pc for compatability but for general dicking around on the internet/watching porn they are unbeatable. Open the lid, put in your password and off you go. They link with your android phone so anything you do on one is on the other.
If you still have your BBC, Phil, I bet it's worth more than my PC . First experience with Win8. So first thing I did was to go 'classic' and also download a 3rd-party start button . Now it's chust like a normal computer. Except bludy fast . (Yes, Mr Ha - Win10 icon is on the taskbar. Haven't signed up as you apparently don't have to - it'll be free anyways. I'll let others sort out the teething problems first...)
