    Hi all,

I have an outdoor socket that has no visible rcd within the plastic hinged box, can I remove the socket face and replace with an rcd version or do I have to buy the complete assembly?

Only asking as I think it is wired directly to the kitchen sockets?

The house has rcd's for lighting sockets etc on the consumer unit.

    Thanks Dave

If it is wired from the kitchen sockets and these are suitably protected by an MCB and RCD in the consumer unit then it should be OK as it is depending on the state and size of the supplying cable. To test it get a cheap socket tester.
