I am wiring up an outside light and have a one-way 1 gang switch so that I can switch it on from outside.

The inside iof the IP55 switch has three connections L1 L2 and Com and so far I cannot work out how the wiring should work.

Coming from the light is a live and neutral wire and coming into the switch from the house is L N and E.

I had assumed, wrongly I think that the live wore from the light goes into L1 and the live wire from the house goes into L2 and the two neutrals go into Com but this doesnt work!

What should I be doing please.

The live from the house goes into the Com the live from the light goes into L1 all the neutrals are connected together in a separate connector, and all the earth wires connect together in the earth terminal in the switch back box or a connector
