Our house was in the past painted with distemper so when I have done ceilings before I have stripped the paint off in sheets and then painted with stabilising solution before emulsion. I went to get the stabilising solution today to do the landing and it has gone solid. Bearing in mind that I have only used 2.5L in 10 years and that includes doing an exterior wall which I bought it for in the first place I don't really want to spend £20 + on another 5 litres. What, if any, are the alternatives?
Everbuild 406 stablishing fulid, highly recommend it, used litres of it here. I can pick it up for around £10 for 5 litre can. http://www.everbuild.co.uk/406-Stabilising-Solution Can't remember where you are. That's a pity as this is a bargain. http://www.powertoolsdirect.com/eve...merchant_pla&gclid=CMetuNXjgs4CFfMW0wod3wkBRQ

That isn't what I was looking for, is on the internet not a shop and costs £15 for 1L rather than the £20 for 5L I didn't want to pay. Do you need to have a check up on your medication levels as you seem a bit disorientated recently?
This sounds like a pain in the ars@ but is another option http://www.diydoctor.org.uk/projects/distemper.htm £20 for a good product will be a saving if you go a different route and triple the Labour time.
It's a PITA but the everbuild 406 doesn't seem to be available locally so will have to buy a different solution for more money. First off though I'm going to punch a hole in the bottom of the existing tin and see what comes out.
