Got a job coming up where the customer has asked to paint over varnished doors just wondering whether i should use zinsser BIN as a primer never used it before but i looked online saw that it advises you to use zinsser
I use it all the time, be careful tho as it's very runny. Any spills/splashes wipe off with meths, not white spirit.
Hi teabreak, I've used esp on bits of furniture, just wondering how tough it is for high traffic areas such as stair parts, doors etc? The bits I've used it on haven't chipped but generally don't get bashed anyway. Thanks
It is white pigmented shellac so use meths for any clean up. I wouldn't use your best brushes with it use a reasonable priced quality one, not a pound shop one. And work fast it dries in minutes. Two coats then on with your paint system, undercoat and gloss or straight on with satin, eggshell. Works really well and if your using it all day the time will soon pass cos you will be high as a kite
Yes like you i have mostly used it on furniture and kitchen doors. I did use it years ago on a varnished pine desk my daughter had and it stood up well on the top surface for years
