Hi Folks, I am looking at building a new Shed, Can you tell me if http://www.samuelkirk.co.uk/050-x-035-rough-timber-9166-p.asp Would be good for framing or can I use thiner wood perhaps 32 x 44 or something similar. Looking at building a 8 x 10 shed.
HI Dean, Yes you could use the scants that you see on this site. I personally would go for 47mmx47mm but that's personal preference. If you want to make the walls stiffer then use 75mmx50mm at the top and bottom of the wall. A 2.4mx3m isn't a very big building so it's optional.
Use CLS timber from B and Q or Wickes, 8 x 10 is a fair size hut. 89mm x 38mm and 63mm × 38mm it's good wood and nice and straight, I wouldn't use any less if you want to do it properly. http://www.wickes.co.uk/search?text=studwork&x=-800&y=-44 http://www.diy.com/nav/build/timber/construction-timber/studwork
