Hi, I have decided to get a plasterer in to skim my hall walls..... is it neccessary for me to remove the skirting boards and coving for a better finish, and to make the job easier...?
Generally better...but not always necessary. Depends on how much there is to remove and how 'slick' you want it. Also down to the skill of the plaster and current state of walls. I'd consult your plasterer. Are you planning on changing the flooring? If so and say putting a wooden or laminate floor down, then def take skirtings off as it'll make that job easier and 'slicker'.
Nothing worse than quadant pinned to the skirting to cover the edge of the laminate. Far neater to remove skirting, if you decide on laminate flooring. Should be able to keep the coving, as it's edge is wide enough to accomodate a few mm of plaster with losing edge definition.
