I had to branch off a 22mm CH flow & return.I thoght I would avoid joints under floorboards by using Speedfit for the first time. Got in line with Speedfit pipes using copper (Compression and end-feed.) Made what appears to be a simple connection copper to Speedfit but when tested the Speedfit connector leaks like a sieve. I think its due to the sideways pressure exerted by the pipe trying to get back to its coiled state. Can't overcome this so it looks like chucking away the Speedfit pipe and fittings and starting again in copper.

Did you fit the insert into the speedfit pipe??

No, I downloaded the manual which seemed to indicate that you only needed the insert if connecting to compression fittings.

There are 2 types of insert so which do I need on the copper side and the speedfit pipe side?

Is it leaking around the copper. Is ut def 22mm and not 3/4"?

You don't need any on the copper side but if you're using compression on the speedfit don't use the insert with the O rings.

    Copper side, no insert.

Why are you using a copper fitting, use a speed fit fitting onto the copper pipe.

I can't quite see what he's doing but I know from bitter experience not to use an O ring insert with compression on plastic pipe.:eek:

Don't sound like the copper side leaked, only the speedfit side.
