Stained woodwork

    I have some woodwork to paint that is dark wood stain I'm coating it in bin first can acrylic satin go straight on top or dose it need undercoating as we'll .

    Acrylic satin is self undercoating so you should be ok to go over the BIN.

    Thanks for the reply Astra first lots done not to bad, bloody door with eighteen glass panels in was a ball breaker though.

    Is the glass opaque or clear flat smooth glass?

    It's the sort with a leaf pattern in it.

    Oh, just wondering as had it been clear and flat you need not cut in too carefully as acrylic comes off the glass using a razor blade type scraper and leaves a superb clean finish.

    Just a thought would allcoat water based do the job of BIN it's supposed to stick to most things and sands back easy.

    Would it hold back the possible bleed from the dark stain?

    That's a point might try some sample pieces in the shed to see how they work out.
