I have been told i need to re-inforce my brick columns with SHS posts to give some additional strength. My structural guy says to use these to build an A frame with RSJs providing the horizontal members. How on earth do i join a square hollow SHS post to an I frame RSJ using bolts to build my frame?

    Thanks

Not sure what a SHS post is, but if you mean RHS (rectangular hollow section) then all I can think of is angle brackets, cut from a length of steel angle and if the "angle iron" is of the normal tapered section, then angle washers are necessary. Welding seems a much easier option ! :(
