Yes that's a good idea. Pretty much what I did for my shed which was:
    - DPC on the concrete base
    - timber bearers
    - stapled another DPC on tops of the timber bearers
    - shed base.

The stapled DPC on the under side of the bearers will help protect them from splash back

Need to test using a couple of odd blocks form garden, that spacing won't sit right with bearers

Also, is it going to be ok having my bearers, resting on edge of concrete blocks with bearers hanging over by 10mm as drip edge?

As long as blocks are sitting flat yes it'll be fine.

Don't forget also that the intermediate bearers will be resting on some blocks. There's no way the blocks can tip over though, as long as they're snug to the ground.

Just going through other costs. As my floor will take 50mm insulation now and be off the ground 100mm
    • 50mm Celotex for roof/floor 15 sheets
    • osb3 might go 18mm as Wickes only have 9mm or 18mm (unless 9mm is enough)
£508.09 collected. How does that sound?

Let me do some sums, quantity of celotex seems a bit light. Whats your roof dimensions?

Think your right there (as normal )

One side of roof is 5700x1830
Opposite side of roof is 5700x2550

Equally, I will need more ply than originally thought.

    (try this one)

Whats the pro's and cons of doing this?

Bearers straight on concrete, some type of DPM wrapped around whole bearers then over top of bearers before first logs?

Naff I say, sitting a timber frame on dpm, water pooling, timber sat in water.

And that install won't of been cheap, I'm amazed these cabins get fitted like they do. The mess I'm in with mine is crazy.

So back to raising it on blocks for me then.

I don't trust any timber base that can't dry out.

    • Celotex 1200 x 2400 mm
    • OSB3 1220 x 2440 mm
So as ply comes 20mm bigger each way I just used the Celotex calculation on 2.88 m2

    Roof Side 5.7 x 1.83 = 10.43
    • 10.43 / 2.88 = 4 sheets

    Roof Side 5.7 x 2.55 = 14.54
    • 14.54 / 2.88 = 6 sheets

    Floor 5.3 x 3.8 = 20.14
    • 21.14 / 2.88 = 7 sheets

    So If I go for

17 Sheets of Celotex and 10 sheets of ply?

I did some quick sums and came to that conclusion too. However I'd draw out the floor and roof and work out exactly where the cuts are. E.g. the roof at 2550 will have a nasty slither piece which isn't good. The floor at 600 wide is a lot eaiser.

Which type of 50mm wood is ideal for around roof perimeter where Ply is fixed too?

I used the intermediate bearers I didn't need. Just needs to be 50mm treated so regularised timber is no good as it's 45mm. Used 11mm OSB on my roof which is fine as you've got celotex supporting it underneath.

Wickes are out of 11mm so probably going 18mm. Need this midweek as going to tackle all this. Wickes also have 10% off until tomorrow night, so probably ordering tonight or Monday morning.

So assuming your roof t&g is 19mm I'd go for 85mm screws and be careful you screw them just flush. Very fine balance between having enough thread so they don't pull out and too much so they like through.

Helps to countersink the OSB first and just nip the screw heads to it
