I am looking to varnish 9 interior doors (dark walnut colour, as the missus has requested) but am struggling to find a suitable tin size for this without buying 9 tins. I spoke to the staff of B&Q and he suggested a tin of exterior varnish at approx. £48 which will cover all 9 doors. Can the exterior varnish be used interior? And be applied the same way?
Look up fiddes, don't know where you are based but you can more than likely order items from them. They are experts in their field. B and Q staff can't find their ar se with both hands on a good day.
Are you looking to colour and stain in one go or are you trying to varnish over a coloured stain ? The choice is very wide especially in the type of varnish and what you want to achieve. Both Fiddes and Osmo have good products in stain and a top coat, Fiddes (029 2034 0323) have an advice centre and Osmo has a lot of information on their website. Whenever possible, get a stain and varnish from the same supplier. Instead of varnishing the doors, have you considered a wax finish, can be as durable as a varnish and somewhat easier to get a good finish
