For a couple/few weeks now my left click has gorn awry. Whereas before I could happily move my mouse to the start of a word to, say, left-click ready to scroll over that letter to highlight it for anything, now what happens is completely random. Usually what happens now is that as I hold down the LH button ready to drag and highlight that word, what happens is that it drags the first letters of that word across the whole word and then plonks it at the end when I release the button. Now, that is BLUDY annoying. I have to go to Edit > Undo to get it back to what it was. Then I 'left-click' in front of the first letter of the word again and start to 'drag' over that word to highlight it, but - NO! - instead it picks up that first letter or two and drags them over the ******n' word and drops it at the end when I release the 'click'. Or, I click in front of a word and the whole *****n' word highlights up. What the bludy hell? Why won't my *****n' mouse do as it's *****n' told?! Ta muchly...
Optical or laser mouse, dirty sensor maybe, can get a build up of crud, affect light beam, can clean with cotton bud, but I prefer a bit of kitchen towel rolled to a point, sometimes use a monitor wetwipe tissue if crud is stuck. Got a Razer Deathadder & it goes haywire if sensor get partly blocked.
Thanks both It's a decent Logitech jobbie. Having said that, I'd chust clicked on a 'smiley' (see above) and it came up with two of the bar stewards. I had to delete one, 'cos I ain't that happy... Ok, take mouse apart and spray all over it...
You will regret taking a mouse apart, just wipe sensor, & slide tissue under left & right buttons to clear out any crud. Which Logitech you got.
Have you got a spare mouse you can test with? If it is optical it is not worth taking apart. Mice are cheap to buy. Obviously if wireless, you have checked the batteries?
And a pain in the backside if you want to upgrade anything. iPhone's are good, but Mac's are not for me. Got an eight year old Dell Latitude E series still going here, SSD and RAM upgrade make it run much faster, still a Core 2 Duo. Do like the the Lenovo T series.
Parkinsons. Twitch in your index finger means you are actually double-clicking without realising. Getting old! Mr. HandyAndy - Really
It's just about as much as you can do to upgrade a laptop unless you want to get into part numbers and compatibility. You get a world more choice when it comes to desktops.
Anything Apple is banned in this shack. Just spent around £500, on new pc, should have a box of new shiney bits here on monday, then a few hours building it.
I'd expect it to move itself at that price! Still rocking a Microsoft PS/2 ball mouse, classic beige colour. I have a Model M keyboard too
Great mouse if your a southpaw. Having a clear out today, found a Corsair K65 keyboard, can't remember buying it,& receit is from July last year.
Right handed, but still works well. It's not one of the curved ones. Still a shame I had to retire an Elonex RS232 Mouse, I had the third click mapped in XP. I don't even know if Elonex is still around. I'm not sure a RS232 PCI adapter in a 4790K system is a good configuration...
Upgrading from a i5 2500k & DDR3 to a i5 6600K & DDR4 memory, the cost of DDR3 memory is getting silly, so pointless upgrading, plus old motherboard was limited to 16GB memory, compared to 64GB for the new one. Elonex is still around I think, but not making pc's any more.
