Wetboards

    Which is best to use above bath with shower unit. Acrylic or laminate boards.(or pvc units)
    Cheapest sources ?

    Cement boards, then tank, for belt & braces.

    After ripping out a few of these kind of boarded out showers......I'd still go for cement/tanking.

    Ok, understand that.....and finished with tiles ?
    Are you saying that the systems fail too quickly or were put in badly ?

    I'd say the acrylic panels would be better. As they are completely solid all the way through, there's no chance of any moisture getting through scratches on the surface. Whereas, with the laminate ones, any deepish surface scratches/dings, could allow water through to the plywood core. ;);)

    The older versions where prone to suffer from water problems.......have removed a lot of the rotten ply kinds that where around.......not sure how good the stuff is nowadays, but as long as you get all the corner joints etc etc......you should be ok.
