It's one of the things Win 10 was given to answer everyone's complaints about it being missing on '8'. I know it's there - 'cos my bludy son has them on his side. He claims he doesn't know how they got there...
http://uk.pcmag.com/windows-10-prev...ure/how-to-customize-the-window-10-start-menu Nope, I cannot find it.
Thanks KIAB. That's a good one, Para. From reading the replies to that article, it looks as tho' you cannot manually modify what's in that LH list - which is driving more peeps than me potting. What's bludy aggravating is that it is set to add 'Most Used' on there, but has it added Firefox? Has it hell...
For what it's worth, even on W7, IE was never added there even though it was used constantly. Mr. HandyAndy - Really
Get the W7 look start menu. Right-click and unpin all your desktop tiles. You will have left just the start menu on the left(two columns maybe) Right-click Start and click settings/personalise. Do your stuff there. Mr. HandyAndy - Really
A menu that is similar to the W7 start menu. Once you have it(by unpinning all the tiles) the 'settings' will allow you to customise whatever you see on the menu. Mr. HandyAndy - Really
I had a "go" on a friends laptop running Win10 and I can assure you the taskbar at the bottom of the screen is nowt like Win7.
We should consider ourselves lucky Bill Gates wasn't Henry Ford. If he was we'd have had the steering wheel in a different place on every car since the Model T.
Ah, Mr Ha got me pretty much there - THANK YOU! By removing the tiles, the icons (eg Firefox) now appear down the left hand list. What a BLUDY BLUDY BLUDY stupid system! Ohmagawd. And I've chust discovered that the Firefox launcher has three options on a 'jump list' - 'Open new tab', 'open new window' and 'private browsing'. These three options were not available (afaIk)on the 'tile' format. Anyways, I'm much happier now. The few progs I need are on my 'list', and a couple of useful tiles ('live' weather - nifty) on my tiles. Man, I'm pushin' this Win10 to its limit... Thanks all - much appreciated
Loving Window 10, but I got one desktop it will not install on, going to have to do a reinstall of Windows 7 first. Trouble is I haven't got a spare 2TB hard drive to copy everything to. Windows 7 was good, but Windows 10 is even better, give it a few months, there will be a mega update out for it.
